NONFICTION REFERENCE:

Learning to Speak Alzheimer’s by Joanne Koenig Coste

The 36 Hour Day by Nancy L. Mace

FICTION/ MEMOIR/FILM:

The following capture something of the real experience of living with memory loss.

Elegy for Iris, a memoir about the philosopher/novelist Iris Murdoch’s life with Alzheimer’s by her husband John Bayley–turned into the film Iris starring Judy Dench.

“The Bear Came Over the Mountain,” a short story by Alice Munroe in her collection Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage, turned into the truly wonderful film Away from Her starring Julie Christie
